Holistic Care and Feeding of the Body, Mind, & Spirit

 4 Continuing Education Credits for nurses & social workers (Certificate of Completion will be given to others upon request)

Professional Statement of Purpose:  The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to understand and integrate holistic/integrative concepts, particularly self-care, into their personal and professional practices.

Participants must be present for entire presentation to earn CE’s; no partial credit given


A four-hour CE class  describing the holistic/integrative health paradigm with emphasis on the need for professional care-giver self-care. Topics include the mind-body connection, conventional vs holistic/integrative health care model, burn-out, nutrition, stress management, and coping and relaxation strategies including humor and communication. Experiential sessions allow you to begin using self-care strategies immediately. Be inspired, informed, and empowered as you learn to better care for yourself as you care for others. Presented by Amanda Murphy, RN, BA, HN-BC who shares her insights and experience of more than 40 years in  health-care  through informative, dynamic, thought-provoking workshops which invite participants to experience wellness. Guaranteed engagement, inspiration, and laughter!

Amanda’s knowledge has come from many sources including personal experience, the best teacher. Her personal relationship with “dis-ease” and unenlightened care-givers has taught her the importance of self-care, stress management, and personal responsibility that lead to self-empowerment and wellness. Amanda has studied Holistic Health at VT College, with Seeds & Bridges Center for Holistic Nursing Education, with Bernie Siegel at ECaP (Exceptional Cancer Patients,) with Brian Luke Seaward of Paramount Wellness Institute, with the National Institute of Whole Health, and with many others.

Proposed Outline:

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM: Light Breakfast, Registration, Welcome
8:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Presentation
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch

This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. (Expires 3.27.17) Approval for contact hours through the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) is based on an assessment of the educational merit of this program and does not constitute endorsement of the use of any specific modality in the care of clients.

This program has been approved for 4 Social Work Continuing Education Credits, for the licensure period of October 1, 2016 — September 30, 2018, in accordance with 258 CMR. Boston University School of Social Work Authorization Number B-18-025.

Health, Holism & Humor

A one-hour continuing education class for nurses and social workers 

Topics include: The holistic/integrative paradigm, wellness, stress, epigenetics, neuroplasticity, and laughter as a stress management technique.


Continuing Education credit for this program is awarded by Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) for the following professions:Nurses: As an American Psychological Association approved provider CES programs are accepted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Every state Board of Nursing accepts ANCC approved programs except California and Iowa, however CES is also an approved Continuing Education provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing, (Provider Number CEP15567) which is also accepted by the Iowa Board of Nursing. Nurses completing this program receive 1.0 CE hours of credit.

This program has been approved for 1 Social Work Continuing Education Credits, for the licensure period of October 1, 2016 — September 30, 2018, in accordance with 258 CMR.  Boston University School of Social Work Authorization NumberB-18-053.
